This past Saturday, my wife and I had the chance to see one our favorite bands of all-time, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, perform at the Verizon Music Center in Indianapolis. The band came out to a thundering applause, as they performed their first song "Carry On." Well, for a small number of concert attendees, the applause later turned into a subdued somber mood, as the band starting digging into some of the songs on Neil Young's latest effort "Living With War". For those who don't know, Living With War contains a lot of songs that are directed at Bush, our government, as well as the media. My wife and I sat with some friends we ran into, who were Die-Hard Republicans, who were not too happy with the performance. In fact, they stated that the band was using the war to sell albums.....OMG!!!! First of all, for close to 40 years, CSNY have written songs about peace, love, as well as songs concerning war, poverty, and activism. Second of all, I don't think this band needs a war to make money since they don't need it. And for those who were disappointed in their views during the performance, you should have known better before purchasing the tickets.
If you check out David Lindquist's column in the Indianapolis Star,(http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar ticle?AID=/20060903/ENTERTAINMENT04/6090 30480/1005/ENTERTAINMENT) you will see that he stated that many people in the crowd were dismayed not only at the lyrics, but at the images that depicted the flag draped coffins, as well as the sing a long lyrics from the song "Let's impeach the President" that were posted on the wide screens across the amphitheatre. Obviously, Mr. Lindquist didn't walk around the amphitheatre to see what the responses were from everyone. We were sitting out in the lawn, and the only boos and comments I heard was from our misinformed friends. There were in fact many people who cheered and raised their fists, everytime Bush and our government was bashed. I showed the article to my wife this morning, to which she replied, "They're owned by Gannett(USA Today), does it surprise you?" Why is it everytime a performer decides to criticize Bush, they are criticized by the media, but when the racist Ted Nugent calls Ted Kennedy or John Kerry names during his shows, it's never looked upon. Going back to the article, you will see that David states that the audience seemed to object to accompanying video footage of soldiers carrying a flag-draped casket on a tarmac. Well, once again David, you must have sat in your seat all night, and observed the few around you, since I didn't notice any anger or disagreement from the ones seated around us. It's obvious that Mr. Lindquist hasn't listened to many CSNY albums, because he doesn't understand that they have been conveying their messages for the last 40 years.
Well, I will say that I had a great time seeing one of the best bands of all time, and for anyone thinking about attending any of their upcoming shows, please do it. And for those who don't want to hear any Bush bashing, then don't go.
Check this out! Kenneth Blackwell accidently invested in Diebold. Accident my __!

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The state's top elections official said Monday he accidentally invested in a company that makes voting machines.
Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, who is seeking the Republican nomination for governor, said he discovered the shares for Diebold Inc. while preparing a required filing for the Ohio Ethics Commission.
"While I was unaware of this stock in my portfolio, its mere presence may be viewed as a conflict and is therefore not acceptable," he said in a letter included in his filing.
Blackwell said his investments are directed by an accountant and financial adviser without his knowledge or help, "similar to a blind trust."
He said a manager of his investments account at Credit Suisse First Boston bought 178 shares of Diebold stock at $53.67 per share in January 2005. Blackwell said the manager did not follow instructions to avoid such investments.
He said 95 shares were later sold at a loss but he still held 83 shares until discovering them and liquidating them Monday, also at a loss.
The state negotiated a deal with Diebold last year for $2,700 per touch-screen machine. In a statement given in May as part of a lawsuit, Judith Grady, who oversees the secretary of state's compliance with the 2002 federal voting act, said Blackwell was not involved with price negotiations.
What had been a mundane political duty took on new meaning last year after Gov. Bob Taft's failure to report several golf outings led to his no contest plea to ethics violations. He was fined the maximum $4,000.
Bob Paduchik, a spokesman for Attorney General Jim Petro, Blackwell's rival in the GOP primary, called for further investigation.
Democrats weren't buying Blackwell's explanation.
"If he can't manage to know what's in his checkbook, why would the people of Ohio want to trust this man with the state's checkbook?" said Brian Rothenberg, spokesman for the Ohio Democratic Party

Texas - The youngest son of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was arrested early Friday and charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest, law enforcement officials said.
John Ellis Bush, 21, was arrested by agents of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission at 2:30 a.m. on a corner of Austin's Sixth Street bar district, said commission spokesman Roger Wade.
The nephew of President Bush was released on $2,500 bond for the resisting arrest charge, and on a personal recognizance bond for the public intoxication charge, officials said.
Wade said he had no further details about the charges.
Gov. Bush and his wife Columba appeared Friday evening at a museum reception in Miami.
"My son's doing fine. It's a private matter. We will support him. We're sad for him. But I'm not going to discuss it on the public square with 30 cameras," the governor told reporters.
It's not the first time Florida's first family has experienced legal problems with one of their children.
Noelle Bush, the governor's daughter, was arrested in January 2002 and accused of trying to pass a fraudulent prescription at a pharmacy to obtain the anti-anxiety drug Xanax. She completed a drug rehabilitation program in August 2003 and a judge dismissed the drug charges against her.
Zarqawi is dead, claims Baghdad imam

PARIS - Al Qaeda's leader in Iraq, Abu Musab Al Zarqawi, is dead but Washington continues to use him as a bogeyman to justify a prolonged military occupation, an Iraqi Shia cleric said in an interview published here on Friday.
Sheikh Jawad Al Kalesi, the imam of the al-Kazemiya mosque in Baghdad, told Le Monde newspaper: "I don't think that Abu Musab Al Zarqawi exists as such. He's simply an invention by the occupiers to divide the people."
Kalesi claimed that Zarqawi was killed in the Kurdish northern region of Iraq at the beginning of the US-led war on the country as he was meeting with members of the Ansar Al-Islam group affiliated to Al Qaeda.
"His family in Jordan even held a ceremony after his death. Abu Musab Al Zarqawi is therefore a ploy used by the Americans, an excuse to continue the occupation. It's a pretext so they don't leave Iraq."
Kalesi made the comments to Le Monde as he passed through Paris after attending an inter-religious gathering in the eastern French city of Lyon organised by the Roman Catholic Sant'Egidio Community,
